Uniforms and Pleasant Hill Scout Shop
The basic uniform consists of a shirt, hat, neckerchief, neckerchief slide, and the pack and council patches. This can add up to $100 or so. Albany Pack 3 works hard to re-use old uniforms!
This year we are planning to do a bulk buy for uniforms - more information regarding that will be sent out later. If you prefer to get to get your child's uniform individually, you can order online or visit a store in person. The staff at Scout stores (in Pleasant Hill and San Rafael) are very helpful and will be happy to help you find what you need. To get the correct patches for the uniform, be sure to tell them that you are with Albany Pack 003, and part of the Golden Gate District. They will also want to know what rank your scout is.
The hat, neckerchief and slide will change with the different grades (often, these are passed down from older kids), but the same blue shirt can be used for Scouts from kindergarten through third grade. In fourth grade, scouts get a tan shirt, which can be worn for fourth and fifth grades. You are also welcome to purchase pants/shorts, a belt, socks, etc. They'll need a belt to wear their belt slides from advancements. While at the store, you can also pick up the scout handbook for your scout’s grade. This is the guide to your year of scouting and will be needed for Den meetings as well as to work on patches and advancements. It’s a lot of fun to visit these stores, and doing so supports local scouts, but if you prefer, you can shop online at the main Boy Scouts online store: www.scoutstuff.org
A guide to the various insignia and patches (and where to put them on a uniform) is available on the BSA Insignia Guide.
